Private Medical Insurance

Make sure you’re clear on the key information when claiming on your private medical insurance

Booking treatment

We currently work with Bupa, AXA Health, Vitality, WPA, Aviva, Healix, Health Partners Europe and United Healthcare Global. If your provider is listed, firstly get in touch with them to request an authorisation code. Once you have authorisation you can either book online, call us, email or speak to our team using the live chat function found in the bottom right corner of this website.

If your insurer is not listed, please get in touch with us to see if we can help.

We can invoice directly to your insurers as long as they are a company that we work with directly, and you’ve provided us with your insurance details. We currently directly invoice Bupa, AXA Health, Vitality, WPA, Aviva, Healix, Health Partners Europe and United Healthcare Global, but please let us know if you are covered by another insurer as we may still work with them.

When booking your appointment, you need to provide us with the name of your insurer, your membership details, the authorisation code and how many appointments that gives you.

Below is a list of our services which are covered by insurance, but it’s always best to check first with your insurer, or you can contact us directly to find out.

  • Sport & Exercise Medicine
  • Physiotherapy
  • Osteopathy
  • Podiatry*
  • Rheumatology
  • Pain Medicine
  • Endocrinology
  • Dietician

*not currently covered by AXA Health

Please note that the below services are not currently covered by private medical insurance:

  • Soft Tissue Therapy
  • Strength & Conditioning
  • Exercise Physiology
  • Nutrition
  • Pilates

During treatment

Once you’ve run through all your allotted sessions with us your physiotherapist will write a request for additional treatment to your insurer should you need it. Your insurer will then contact you with a new authorisation code.

Your initial appointment will be one hour unless you are seeing a consultant specialist, in which case your initial will be 40 minutes. Follow up appointments are 30 minutes unless you are seeing a consultant specialist, in which case your follow up will be 25 minutes.

Unfortunately, due to GDPR protocol, we are not able to get all the information that we need from your insurer, so we always suggest getting in contact with them directly with any queries you might have.

If your insurer asks for a provider number or billing code, please just give us a call or speak to a member of our reception team at your next appointment and we’ll be able to provide this to you.

Excesses & Cost Shares

The excess or cost share on your policy is the amount that you contribute towards your treatment. This is usually a small fraction of the total cost, but it is always worth checking this with your insurer to avoid any unwanted surprises.

Your insurer will contact you directly when there is an excess or cost share to be paid and we will then contact you once we receive that invoice.

Your excess will be triggered when you confirm your claim with your insurer in order to get booked in. You will then receive an invoice for that amount.

There shouldn’t be any other fees outside of your excess or cost share unless you need further treatment that is not covered by your policy.

If your insurer rejects an invoice, you will be liable to cover this yourself. However, we can provide you with the invoice to contest it with your insurer.
