As a former elite athlete, Carolina has developed a deep understanding of injury recovery and pain management within a sporting context.
Carolina is a Specialist Musculoskeletal and Sports Injuries Physiotherapist with over 15 years of clinical experience in the management of chronic conditions, injury prevention, and post-operative rehabilitation. She adopts a patient-centred, individualised approach to care, tailoring treatment to each person’s specific needs and goals.
Her practice is underpinned by comprehensive assessment, accurate diagnosis, and strong clinical reasoning, enabling her to develop effective, evidence-based treatment plans.
Carolina integrates movement-based rehabilitation, therapeutic exercise prescription, and manual therapy to optimise functional capacity, support recovery and performance, and reduce the risk of future injury. Throughout the rehabilitation process, she places a strong emphasis on patient education and self-management, providing clear guidance and ongoing support to help individuals regain confidence, achieve their goals, and improve long-term outcomes.
Carolina began her career in hospital-based orthopaedic, trauma, and sports injury settings, where she developed extensive expertise in post-operative rehabilitation and the management of chronic musculoskeletal conditions. She later established and successfully ran her own physiotherapy clinic for eight years, treating a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions and helping patients achieve their rehabilitation goals.
Since relocating to the UK, Carolina has worked in sports injury clinics, supported athletes at a tennis club in Newcastle, and practised within the University of Sunderland’s healthcare services. These diverse clinical experiences have further strengthened her expertise in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, injury prevention, and sports-related injury management across a wide range of patient populations.
