What our Strength & Conditioning Coaches
can help with:

Periodic and personalised training programmes are structured exercise plans tailored to an individual’s fitness level, goals, and needs, with adjustments over time to optimise performance and recovery. Using principles of periodisation, these programmes vary intensity, volume, and rest periods to prevent burnout, enhance progression, and reduce injury risk. Whether for athletes, rehabilitation, or general fitness, a personalised approach ensures effective and sustainable results by addressing specific strengths, weaknesses, and lifestyle factors.

Full body movement assessments evaluate an individual’s mobility, stability, and biomechanics to identify imbalances, weaknesses, or movement dysfunctions. These assessments analyse posture, joint range of motion, and functional movements to detect potential injury risks and optimise performance. They are commonly used by physiotherapists, trainers, and sports professionals to create targeted exercise or rehabilitation plans. By addressing movement inefficiencies, full body movement assessments help improve overall strength, flexibility, and coordination.

Strength and power training focuses on building muscle strength, explosive force, and overall athletic performance through resistance exercises and high-intensity movements. This type of training includes weightlifting, plyometrics, and functional exercises that enhance muscle coordination, speed, and endurance. Strength training improves muscular stability and resilience, while power training develops quick, forceful movements essential for sports and daily activities. Incorporating both into a fitness program helps increase performance, prevent injuries, and support overall physical health.

Fitness assessment and monitoring involve evaluating an individual’s physical health, strength, endurance, flexibility, and overall fitness levels over time. These assessments use tests such as body composition analysis, cardiovascular endurance tests, and strength measurements to track progress and identify areas for improvement. Regular monitoring helps tailor training programs, prevent injuries, and ensure effective performance enhancement. Whether for athletes or general fitness enthusiasts, fitness assessments provide valuable insights to optimise health and achieve specific fitness goals.

High-end, focused injury rehabilitation is a specialised recovery approach designed to restore function, strength, and mobility following an injury. Using advanced techniques such as targeted physiotherapy, soft tissue therapy, and strength training, this rehabilitation process is tailored to individual needs for optimal healing. It emphasises precise movement correction, progressive exercise programs, and injury-specific treatment to accelerate recovery while minimising the risk of re-injury. This approach is ideal for athletes and active individuals seeking a fast, effective return to peak performance.

Preventing injury involves proactive measures to reduce the risk of strains, sprains, and other musculoskeletal issues. Key strategies include proper warm-ups, strength and flexibility training, maintaining good posture, and using correct techniques during physical activity. Regular movement assessments, soft tissue therapy, and wearing appropriate footwear can also help prevent injuries. By addressing muscle imbalances and improving biomechanics, individuals can enhance performance and reduce the likelihood of overuse or acute injuries.

Combined with other factors such as a healthy diet and good quality sleep, regular exercise is known to significantly enhance your body’s ability to fight infections more effectively. By adopting these habits, individuals can enhance their overall well-being and reduce susceptibility to common illnesses.

Strength & conditioning help improve and optimise performance by developing sport-specific training programs tailored to an your individual needs. These programs focus on building strength, power, endurance, agility, and flexibility to enhance performance while reducing injury risk. By incorporating exercises that mimic sport-specific movements, you will improve your biomechanics, reaction time, and overall efficiency. A well-designed strength & conditioning program ensures peak physical condition, allowing you to perform at your best.

Lactate threshold testing is a performance assessment that measures the point at which lactic acid accumulates in the blood faster than the body can clear it. This test helps determine your optimal training intensity for endurance sports like running, cycling, and swimming. By identifying your lactate threshold levels, we are able to structure specific training programs to improve stamina, delay fatigue, and enhance overall performance. Regular testing allows for precise adjustments in training to maximise efficiency and endurance.

ForceDeck testing is an advanced assessment tool used to measure strength, power, balance, and movement mechanics through force plate technology. It provides detailed data on metrics like jump height, landing forces, and asymmetries between limbs, helping to identify weaknesses, track rehabilitation progress, and optimise athletic performance. Also a vital tool to support rehabilitation, ForceDeck testing allows for precise training adjustments to improve strength, stability, and injury prevention.

Your first session with one of our Strength & Conditioning Coaches will include a review of your previous training history and injury status. They will carry out a movement assessment to identify any joint restrictions, areas of muscle weakness or over-activity. Fitness testing may also be used to set appropriate goals.

Your S&C coach will take your current work, life and training pattern into account and use your desired outcome and training goals to develop a personalised programme. At subsequent sessions, the S&C coach will take you through your unique programme, reviewing and refining it as you progress.

All of our S&C coaches are degree-qualified, and either accredited or working towards accreditation with a national strength and conditioning association.

Frequently asked questions

Strength & Conditioning describes specific exercise training often with the aims of:

  • Improving athletic performance
  • Improving health, wellness, longevity, and physical fitness
  • Returning to sport after injury
  • Reducing the risk of future injury

It typically includes elements of strength and resistance training, mobility exercise, cardiovascular conditioning, and speed, agility and power training.

In your initial consultation, you and your coach will discuss your training background, injury history, and goals in order to build a plan that works for you and your specific needs. They will also conduct various physical tests to set a baseline and an understanding of your initial level of fitness and performance. The following sessions will consist of your coach guiding you through your training/exercise programme in the gym, ensuring that you improve and work towards achieving your goals.

If you are training for a sporting/physical event (such as a half marathon), if you want to improve your health and fitness, if you want to lose weight, if you want to get back to playing sport after an injury, if you want reduce the risk of side effects from a medical treatment, if you want to increase your bone and muscle mass, if you want to run faster, jump higher, and live longer…S&C is for you!

The NHS recommends everyone be taking part in some form of strength and cardiovascular exercise each week, so we strongly believe that there isn’t anyone who wouldn’t benefit from Strength & Conditioning.

A standard session typically lasts 60 minutes, but we also offer 45 and 30-minute sessions. These don’t have to be in person as we also offer virtual sessions.

Although some personal trainers can be very good, the standard of qualification is low. All of our strength & conditioning coaches are degree qualified and hold elite certifications from highly respected governing bodies (i.e. UKSCA, NSCA, ASCC).

Personal training is typically focused on building muscle/losing body fat, whereas strength & conditioning includes this as well as other areas such as athletic performance and injury rehabilitation/prevention.

Absolutely! If you want to improve your current level of fitness, performance and health, then look no further.

Definitely! There is always some form of exercise that can be done, even when we are carrying an injury. Our coaches regularly work alongside our Physiotherapists and Osteopaths to optimise patient care, ensuring their patients are staying strong and healthy whilst helping to rehab the injury.  An injury to the shoulder should not mean the rest of the body has to suffer, for example.
