Biography
Lucas qualified as a physiotherapist in 2017 and has worked extensively in multiple settings within the NHS, private healthcare and elite sport. Lucas began his career working within the NHS at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead and has gained a wealth of experience working in numerous specialities within one of London’s largest and well renowned teaching hospitals. Lucas then specialised as a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist at the Royal Free. Working in several healthcare settings has provided Lucas with a wealth of experience managing a variety of acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, orthopaedic pre and post operative cases and sports injuries in a wide range of individuals from those less active to those participating in high level sport.
Since qualifying Lucas has worked in elite sport within multiple London based professional football club academies, including Leyton Orient, Watford and Tottenham Hotspur FC. He now works part-time for Arsenal FC, delivering elite sports physiotherapy for young athletes within their academy.
Due to his work in football, Lucas is well versed in managing sports injuries, mapping out clear rehabilitation programmes from initial pitch side assessment and treatment, to return to play protocols. He has a passion for forward thinking, evidence-based rehabilitation and injury prevention linked to on field performance and availability, with his particular areas of interest including the lower limb and shoulder.
Lucas personally continues to participate in team sports, specifically football and cricket. He is also keen skier and is currently training for a marathon and a triathlon endurance event. His passion for physical activity, coupled with his degree, have led Lucas to have a keen interest in all components of rehabilitation and training, striving to ensure all treatment provided is patient centred and individualised to their specific goals.
