Jonathan Barber

I am a specialist in Musculoskeletal (MSK) Podiatry and Podiatric Sports Medicine. My expertise is in the management of foot and ankle musculoskeletal conditions. I am motivated to help people to keep active, play sport, and achieve their personal goals. I have worked with athletes of all levels from beginners to professionals.

I am a specialist in musculoskeletal (MSK) podiatry and podiatric sports medicine. I graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Southampton in 2016, receiving the Dean’s List Award for Outstanding Achievement in every year of study.

After qualifying, I began my career at the prestigious Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in a rotational post, gaining broad experience across tissue viability, minor surgery, biomechanics, gait analysis, and MSK podiatry. I now hold a senior specialist position in MSK podiatry at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Bexley, under Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. In the private sector, I have experience from working at the Blackheath Hospital and Sevenoaks Medical Centre.

I have a particular interest in sports-related injuries, especially among endurance athletes such as runners and triathletes. I have worked with elite athletes as part of the London Marathon medical team and regularly support ultra-distance participants at Action Challenge ultra-marathon events.
I completed my MSc in Podiatric Sports Medicine at Queen Mary University of London in 2022, further strengthening my expertise in managing complex athletic foot and ankle conditions.

I am a strong advocate of multidisciplinary care, I have consistently worked within integrated teams, recognising the value of collaborative practice in delivering optimal outcomes for patients.
