Arthrosamid Injections for Knee Osteoarthritis

Discover the first approved Arthritis injection, Artrhosamid®, which is a treatment used to treat knee osteoarthritis by creating a long-lasting cushion for the joint for pain relief, easing stiffness and improving mobility.

Introducing Arthrosamid®

Improve your life without surgery.

Arthrosamid® is the first and only approved injectable treatment designed to permanently integrate with the knee’s synovial tissue. Unlike temporary solutions, Arthrosamid® forms a soft, cushioning hydrogel scaffold within the joint that works with your body’s own tissue to provide ongoing support.

Administered using ultrasound guidance for precise placement, this innovative hydrogel injection helps ease the symptoms of knee osteoarthritis. Because the hydrogel does not degrade over time, it is designed to deliver long-lasting pain relief rather than short-term symptom control — helping you move more comfortably and confidently.

Clinical studies have shown that Arthrosamid® can significantly reduce pain in as little as four weeks, with sustained improvements that can enhance mobility and overall quality of life.

What is Knee Osteoarthritis?

Knee osteoarthritis, sometimes referred to as OA, occurs when the shock-absorbing cartilage is worn away, causing bones to rub together. The joint can then become stiff, swollen and painful, which can unfortunately worsen over time, resulting in synovial pain (caused by the inflammation of the lining) and disability. Even though osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis and the fastest-growing cause of disability, little is known about exactly what causes it. A permanent cure has yet to be discovered. Focus has therefore been on symptom and pain management.

What Are The Benefits?

This treatment eases the symptoms of mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis and offers long lasting effects so you can enjoy the things that matter.

Injections for osteoarthritis work by inserting hydrogel into the knee joint, providing a cushion for improved functioning. This means that as a result of pain relief and lubrication, patients will see significant improvements in mobility and return to daily activities.

As the Arthrosamid knee injection involves just a simple procedure under local anaesthetic, taking only a few minutes, many consider this non-surgical treatment as a suitable option. This can also resolve the need for a knee replacement or other more invasive surgeries, minimising risks and easing discomfort in the meantime.

Post-procedure patients may experience mild bruising or swelling to the injection site within the first 48 hours. Rare cases of infection may occur or allergic reactions to the injection, anaesthetic or equipment. It’s important to discuss any of these concerns with the clinician during initial consultations.

It is important to still treat this treatment like a surgery, even though it is less invasive. Recovery is still important, and whilst you should return to normal activities quicker, it is essential to rest for at least 24 hours, avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting, take prescribed pain relief if needed, use ice packs to reduce any swelling and ensure the injection site is clean.

Yes, we are able to arrange and administer injections in both knees if it is required. Your clinician will advise if these should be treated separately.
