Sinead is an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner with extensive experience in shoulder pain and instability and sports rehabilitation.
I am very passionate about helping others achieve what they wish to do. I am keen to work together with people to find out the absolute best way they can achieve their goals. I have a very practical and pragmatic approach and want to work with people’s ideas and plans to make each treatment plan tailor made to them.
Musculoskeletal injury can have a significant impact on a person. Being in pain or restricted in your activity can have far reaching consequences. Something I experienced when my dad, a self-employed carpenter, severely hurt his shoulder and he was unable to work for nearly a year. I remember distinctly the strain this put on him and my family. This was definitely the beginning of a journey for me and has been my prime motivator for my career.
I began in sports rehabilitation working for many rugby and football teams in 2003. I completed an MSc in Physiotherapy and a research project which became my first published research paper in 2010. I presented this at European conference and I was nominated for the young Physiologist award. I then worked as Physiotherapist in the NHS for the following five years.
My research project during my MSc Advanced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy looked at exercise and rotator cuff related shoulder pain, which I presented at World Physiotherapy Congress 2015, the largest Physiotherapy conference in the world. I’m currently part of a research project and hoping to have this published in 2025, on shared decision making with people in pain.
