Diagnostic ultrasound scans, also known as sonography, use high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the inside of the body. This non-invasive imaging technique helps healthcare providers assess organs, tissues, and blood vessels for conditions like tumours, cysts, or injuries. The sound waves bounce off the body’s structures, and a computer processes these echoes to form detailed images. Ultrasound is commonly used for monitoring pregnancies, examining the heart, liver, kidneys, and musculoskeletal system, offering a safe, quick, and effective diagnostic tool.
Ultrasound-guided injections involve using real-time ultrasound imaging to precisely guide the placement of an injection into a specific area of the body. This technique allows our Consultant Specialists to visualise tissues, joints, or other structures, ensuring accurate targeting of the injection site. It is commonly used for joint, tendon, or nerve-related conditions, offering improved accuracy, reduced risk of complications, and faster recovery compared to blind injection methods.
Arthrosamid injections are a type of non-surgical treatment used to alleviate pain and improve function in joints affected by osteoarthritis. The injection contains a unique gel-like substance made of polyacrylamide, which is injected into the affected joint to provide cushioning and lubrication. This helps to reduce inflammation, improve mobility, and relieve pain. Arthrosamid injections are typically used for knee osteoarthritis and offer an alternative to more invasive treatments, such as surgery, with minimal side effects and a relatively quick recovery time.
Concussion is a common sports-related injury which requires careful and specific care and attention. Our Consultant Specialists provide a concussion clinic to assess, diagnose, and treats concussions and mild traumatic brain injuries (TBIs). In doing so, you will receive the individualised treatment plan and symptom management strategies you need to guide you on returning to daily activities, work, or sports safely.
Compartment pressure testing is a diagnostic procedure used to measure pressure within a muscle compartment to evaluate conditions like chronic exertional compartment syndrome (CECS) or acute compartment syndrome. The test involves inserting a needle connected to a pressure monitor into the affected muscle compartment before and after exercise or at rest. Elevated pressure readings can indicate restricted blood flow and increased risk of tissue damage. This test helps guide treatment decisions, which may include activity modifications, physical therapy, or, in severe cases, surgical intervention.
If you’re taking on an endurance event or anything sports-related that is going to push you to your limits, or you have a pre-existing medical condition, it’s always advisable to know where those limits are. Pre-event medicals and health screenings evaluate an individual’s fitness, health status, and potential risk factors. These screenings typically include a medical history review, physical examination, and sometimes additional tests like ECGs or blood work. They help identify underlying conditions, prevent injuries, and ensure participants can safely compete.
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy sound waves to stimulate healing in musculoskeletal conditions. It is commonly used for chronic pain, tendon injuries, and conditions like plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, and calcific tendinitis. The therapy promotes blood flow, reduces inflammation, and accelerates tissue repair by triggering the body’s natural healing response. Shockwave therapy is a popular option for patients seeking pain relief and recovery without surgery or medication.
