Tom is an Osteopath with extensive experience in back, neck, and sacroiliac joint pain as well as sports injuries.
Tom is an experienced osteopath with a Master of Osteopathy degree and over a decade of clinical experience treating adults of all ages and backgrounds, including competitive athletes from a wide range of sports.
He specialises in the treatment of back pain, neck pain, sacroiliac joint pain, headaches, TMJ dysfunction, and sports injuries. Tom is skilled in a broad range of manual therapy techniques, including spinal and peripheral joint manipulation, joint mobilisation, and massage.
Previously, Tom’s patients have rated him highly for making them feel at ease, letting them tell their story, really listening and fully understanding, showing care and compassion, explaining things clearly and helping them take control by creating a plan of action in partnership with them.
Tom’s journey into Osteopathy began through his long-standing interest in sport and movement. A keen sportsman from a young age, his primary sport has always been cricket, where he played league cricket at a high standard for many years and continues to enjoy more casual, friendly games. He also dedicated significant time to training in a Japanese martial art, including an intensive period as a live-in student of an 8th Dan Shihan (master), where he trained for 30 hours a week. This immersive experience not only deepened his understanding of the body but also introduced him to Osteopathy through fellow martial artists.
Before retraining as an Osteopath, Tom worked as an editor in book publishing. While he enjoyed the work, the sedentary nature of the job ultimately led him to seek a more active, hands-on career in healthcare.
Since qualifying, Tom has worked in traditional Osteopathic practices in Edinburgh, treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions. More recently, he has practised within multidisciplinary sports medicine teams, first at Third Space Sports Medicine and currently at Pure Sports Medicine. He values the collaborative environment of team-based care, where different professionals contribute their unique skills to help patients recover and thrive.
