Introduction
Dr Alex Kumar is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Management. He has extensive international training with Fellowships in acute pain at St Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, and in chronic pain at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.Alex is expert at tailoring the spectrum of pain management techniques from intervention, medication and pain therapies to enable rehabilitation and an improved quality of life.

Alex is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Management with Honorary Consultant appointments at King’s College Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
Dr Kumar delivers integrated pain management as part of the rehabilitation team at Pure Sports Medicine.
Having qualified from Bart’s and The London, he undertook specialty training in both the UK and abroad with fellowships in acute pain at St Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, and in chronic pain at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.
Alex is an expert in in the use of pain medicine to enable rehabilitation targeted to improve function and quality of life. This is achieved by using a truly holistic, multidisciplinary approach, tailoring intervention, medication, and pain therapies in partnership with the patient.
Dr Kumar has a specialist interest in spinal medicine, using interventional management techniques alongside rehabilitation to aid those suffering with back pain and sciatica leading to meaningful, patient centred outcomes.
He has a research interest in Pain Management after Major Trauma and has published extensively in this area, regularly presenting this work at national and international conferences.
Alex lives in London with his wife Alice a Gastroenterologist, and their three children. Away from London they can be found either in Devon or in the mountains.
